Our colleagues help nurses like Vince when they need time to heal

Vince Clemens, a nurse at HCA Houston Pearland in Texas, had shoulder pain, which gradually developed into adhesive capsulitis, commonly known as frozen shoulder. He said, “The pain felt like a knife digging into my tissue.” His range of motion was limited, and steroid injections failed to provide relief.
The prescribed solution? Six weeks of complete rest with no movement—no lifting, pulling, or pushing. Six weeks without a paycheck created a big financial problem for Vince. Fortunately, his HR director suggested applying for the Hope Fund.
“They came through for me in a time of need,” he said. Vince always supported the Hope Fund, and now he is healed and back to work he plans to contribute even more – grateful for how his colleagues helped alleviate the fear and uncertainty he felt. His message to colleagues: “Please sign up to donate out of every paycheck – it is going to help somebody.”
