Hospital stay after hospital stay – our HCA Healthcare family helped Cathy!

Cathy Claypool has been with HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest for ten years as a Lab Supervisor. In just the past couple of years, she began to experience multiple debilitating health issues. “First it was headaches, then it was nerve pain,” she said, “a month later, I got a pacemaker and was diagnosed with myocarditis. Then I had appendicitis. It was hospital stay after hospital stay.”

She had to be out of work for extended periods of time and the costs associated with her care piled up. She worried about how to pay for basic things like the mortgage and groceries. Fortunately, she was able to reach out for assistance from her colleagues through the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund. Before long, she learned help was on the way.

“I felt immediate relief,” Cathy said. She was able to catch up on bills and breathe easier during her recovery. To her colleagues who give to help others, Cathy said, “I want to say thank you for your help. It took stress away from me at a time when I really needed it.”
